Cost of Counseling

ABTS is committed to making therapy affordable for everyone.  Private Pay is a great choice when you prefer not to use your health insurance for confidentiality issues or if we are unable to take your insurance.  Our rates vary depending on their experience and specialization. 

Associate Therapist

Associate Therapists posses 0 to 2 years of experience and are under the clinical supervision of a senior therapist and continue obtaining specialized training with a concentration in trauma treatment.


This group of clinicians possess over 2 years of experience and have specialized training in their area of focus. All therapists are EMDR trained and participate in ongoing consultation.

Senior Therapist

Senior therapists not only possess specialized training and certifications in their area of specialty but have over 10 years of practicing clinical experience.  Senior therapists provide ongoing consultation and are committed to furthering their specialized education and consultation.

Can I use my Insurance?

Yes, ABTS accepts Medicaid, CHIP, Employee Assistance Programs and most Private Insurances.   Benefits may vary depending on your insurance; therefore, we encourage you to contact us so we can help you understand your benefits and know your patient responsibility before your appointment.

Will I have any out of pocket expenses?

Depending on your insurance, you may be responsible for the following:

Co-Payments: A fixed amount you will pay for every visit that as your patient responsibility.  

Deductible: Is the amount you pay before your health insurance starts paying for your service.

Coinsurance:  Is the amount you pay after your deductible is met.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

Most insurances do not require a referral to receive services. Our office will contact you if your insurance specifically requires it. 

Do all health insurances cover mental health benefits?

No, some insurances exclude mental health benefits or have a third party insurance responsible for mental health benefits. 


What if I can't afford counseling

Sliding-fee discount

ABTS will not deny services based on patient’s inability to pay, race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. 

We are committed to make mental healthcare accessible to our community and provide counseling services regardless of our client’s ability to pay.  We offer a sliding-fee discount depending on income and family size.  An application and documentation will be required for this process.   Do not let financial struggles prevent you from getting the help you need.
