Professional Development Services

The mission of the ABTS Consulting Group is to support the professional growth and clinical excellence of mental health providers through specialized trauma-focused consultation and supervision. We are committed to helping clinicians strengthen their practice by integrating evidence-based, phase-oriented trauma treatment, including EMDR and treatment approaches for complex traumatization and dissociation. Through collaborative consultation, LPC supervision, and graduate student supervision, we aim to enhance clinical competence, ethical practice, and the effective use of clinicians’ existing skills and resources—ultimately promoting high-quality, compassionate trauma care for the individuals and communities they serve.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) consultation provides practical, clinically grounded support for therapists seeking to deepen their effectiveness in trauma-focused counseling. At Associated Behavioral and Trauma Specialties (ABTS), we offer both EMDR Consultation for Certification and EMDR Consultation for case conceptualization through our dedicated ABTS Consulting Group. Our consultation is led by experienced, trauma-informed clinicians who support therapists in translating EMDR theory into real-world clinical application by strengthening case formulation, target sequencing, and treatment planning. Through collaborative consultation, clinicians enhance their ability to apply EMDR safely and effectively, integrate interventions within phase-oriented trauma treatment, and provide high-quality, ethical care to clients impacted by trauma.

Complex trauma and dissociation consultation offers practical, clinically focused support for mental health professionals working with clients affected by complex traumatization and dissociative disorders. At Associated Behavioral and Trauma Specialties (ABTS), consultation is provided by multiple specialists with advanced training through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and extensive experience in trauma-focused counseling and psychiatry. This consultation helps clinicians translate trauma and dissociation theory into day-to-day clinical practice by strengthening assessment skills, improving case conceptualization, and supporting the implementation of phase-oriented treatment. Through collaborative discussion and expert guidance, clinicians learn to apply stabilization strategies, safely address traumatic material, and promote integration in ways that enhance client safety, therapeutic effectiveness, and long-term outcomes.

Graduate internship supervision supports counseling interns as they apply classroom learning to real clinical work, developing safe, effective skills under the guidance of licensed professionals. This structured supervision helps interns refine counseling techniques, build confidence, and grow as future clinicians while gaining hands‑on experience in trauma‑informed care. ABTS offers a trauma‑focused internship for graduate students who want to deepen their knowledge and specialize in trauma treatment.

LPC‑Associate supervision ensures emerging counselors gain the clinical skills and ethical competence needed to provide safe, effective care while progressing toward full licensure. Under state guidelines, LPC‑Associates complete at least 3,000 supervised clinical hours — including a minimum of 1,500 hours of direct client counseling, and receive a minimum of four hours of monthly supervision from a board‑approved supervisor. ABTS offers trauma‑focused LPC‑Associate supervision for clinicians who want to deepen their knowledge and specialize in trauma treatment while building confidence and competency in real‑world clinical practice.
