MEET THE FOUNDERS
Gerardo Rosas, LPC-S
Gerardo Rosas, M.Ed., LPC-S, EMDR Certified Therapist & Approved Consultant is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Associated Behavioral and Trauma Specialties, LLC (ABTS). With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, Gerardo has been a longstanding and active contributor to the El Paso mental health community, providing trauma-focused clinical care, supervision, and program leadership.
Gerardo earned his Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas at El Paso and completed postgraduate coursework in Marriage and Family Therapy and is bilingual in English and Spanish. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas and specializes in the treatment of complex traumatization, dissociative disorders, borderline personality dynamics, mood disorders, and couples therapy. His clinical work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, with particular expertise in EMDR therapy, trauma integration, and attachment-focused treatment.
Since 2010, Gerardo has been actively practicing EMDR therapy and holds credentials as an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant. He also serves as a Basic EMDR Training Facilitator with the EMDR Training Center of Texas, where he trains and mentors clinicians in trauma conceptualization, EMDR protocol fidelity, and advanced case application. In addition, Gerardo holds specialized training and certification through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, further supporting his work with complex and dissociative presentations.
Throughout his career, Gerardo has worked across a wide range of clinical and administrative settings, including community mental health, foster care services, inpatient facilities, addiction treatment centers, and nonprofit organizations. He has served both as a clinician and as a clinical director, consistently promoting trauma-informed systems of care. At ABTS, he provides executive leadership while maintaining an active clinical role and supervising licensed professionals, associates, and graduate interns.



Zul Estrada, LPC-S, RPT™
Zul Estrada, M.A., LPC-S, RPT, EMDR Certified Therapist & Approved Consultant is the Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder of Associated Behavioral and Trauma Specialties, LLC (ABTS). With over a decade of clinical experience and more than nine years in private practice, Zul brings both strong clinical leadership and operational expertise to the organization, helping ensure high-quality, sustainable trauma-focused care for the community.
Zul earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and completed her Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy at the University of Phoenix. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Her clinical specialization centers on complex trauma across the lifespan, with particular expertise in working with children, adolescents, and families affected by chronic and developmental trauma.
Since entering the mental health field in 2003, Zul has worked across nonprofit mental health agencies, community-based programs, and private practice settings. A significant portion of her career has been dedicated to child welfare, including more than eleven years serving children and families involved in foster care systems. Her work has included case management, rehabilitation services, skills training, advocacy, and trauma-focused psychotherapy, reflecting a deep commitment to vulnerable populations.
Zul is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant and a Registered Play Therapist, with advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). In addition to her clinical work, Zul has served in professional leadership roles, including Past President of the Texas Far West Association for Play Therapy and Treasurer of the Professional Counselors of El Paso.
